Session Descriptors:

Session title: Program Success - A Careful Blend of Content and Context

We spend much time focusing on the cognitive aspect of learning, and sometimes avoid the affective value of the growth process.  Do our students LISTEN or do they LEARN?  The master teachers know it is more than the WHAT and/or the HOW, but it is important to make sure the students understand WHY the exchange of information has relevance to their welfare in preparing for the challenges of life.  Ownership of responsibility only comes when the LANDLORD OF LEARNING is the student.

Session title:
Connecting With Our Students; The Key to Developing Creative Artistry

This clinic focuses on the importance of closing the gap between the teacher and the student, the space between the conductor and the ensemble, and in doing so creating a safe, challenging, encouraging atmosphere to support the connection of the students with the learning, the musical performance, and the realization of their own unlimited potential.  It explores the important integration of MESSAGE and MESSENGER, and how they serve one another in the ongoing journey of artistic possibilities.
